A big part of being a Beachbody coach is your 'WHY'. Why are you choosing to be ….. a fitness instructor, a coach, an advocate for health? I have been thinking about my 'WHY' for a couple of months now. I have come to the conclusion that I am thinking about it all in the wrong ways. I can not seem to come up with one really good why that will WOW everyone. Its kind of bumming me out. This is what I have come up with so far …….
I know why I started on my fitness journey. Four years ago I spent my 30th birthday with my amazing friends and Boyfriend in Disney. We had so much fun and I could not have asked for a better way to start my Thirties. Once we got back and I started to look at the pictures I was so embarrassed by how I looked. Through out my life I had always been active and at that point I was NOT active. I was unemployed with no physical activity in my life other than walking Lula (my dog) daily. I decided I was not going to let the next ten years go by living a sedentary life. So I set a goal for myself, I would run a 5K before the end of the year.
A couple of weeks after my birthday I started a couch to 5K program on my phone….. I will say that it changed my life! It was not always easy and it was rarely fun, seeing as how I decided to start running in June it was nothing but hot, humid, and sticky! EWWW!! In September I ran the Tunnels to Tower 5K in NYC. I was so excited to be involved in that run, but more than that I was so proud that I was able to accomplish the goal I had set forth only 3 months prior.
Since that September I have run numerous 5k's, 4 half marathons, a Tough Mudder, and I am signed up for my first marathon. Running has become my main form of exercise, my outlet, and my stress release. I do other kinds of exercise too. I teach PIYO and can not believe how that workout has changed the shape of my body. I do yoga, spin, and cross train in many other ways.
My goals with my Beachbody business, as well as with this blog, are to help people get started on and push forward in their journey. My post won't only be about fitness and working out, I promise. A HUGE part of starting something new in life is knowing nothing else will suffer. Family and friends are SUPER important to me and you will see that along the way. I want nothing more than for all of them to be happy and healthy…. thats not too much is it?!
So I guess I would say I don't have a "WHY' I have why nots ….. why not stay my healthiest self, why not help others do the same, why not change the way we all think of food and how it affects our lives…. why not!!
Please send me any questions you may have. Also comment below if there is anything you would like to know about or you have an idea for a future blog.
Fair winds!
