I have to say that Monday workouts are always hardest for me. The entire process of the workout from planning which workout to do, what time of day, and then ACTUALLY doing what I planned. It rarely happens that way, for example ........
Sunday morning I sat down on my couch, tea in hand, ok it was a Bloody Mary but I digress, to plan my workouts for the week. I do this most Saturdays or Sundays, just to get an idea of how my week will look as far as my workouts are concerned. I will get into all of that in another blog, I promise. I usually start with any big events that are happening that week ie races, special classes, biking events. This Friday happens to be the start of Ragnar Trail Run in MA, so Friday and Saturday are running days for Ragnar.
Tuesday and Thursday I teach PIYO so that goes in next and I have to decide if I want to do any other workout in the AM. Since I need the miles to get ready for a variety of different runs coming up I put in runs for Tuesday and Thursday AM's. Monday would be PIYO practice for class on Tuesday. Wednesday and Sunday are added as rest days. I then went about planning food and errands for the week.
Fast forward a few Bloody Marys .... I mean hours ..... as I am searching Facebook, I see a friend/spin instructor commented on a post from the previous Friday. 'WAIT .... WHAT?! A double shot of Train songs at spin class tomorrow!!' As I am still on a high from the Train concert on Friday immediately I make a mental note to get to spin class at 5:30 on Monday AM. My week of workouts is already kaput!
4:45AM Monday: My alarm rings and it takes every ounce of my being to move from my comfy bed to the couch. In those few moments I need to decide if this spin class is worth 30 minutes less sleep. I blame my morning fogginess on my next action ....... I signed up for class. Now I have to actually move.
Getting ready for spin class before 5AM probably somewhat resembles the bathrooms on the set of night of the living dead. There is crazy hair, partial clothing, and really bad breath (Im still not sure if I actually brushed my teeth before I left)
Once I was semi-sure I had everything I needed I jumped in my car with 14 minutes until class started ... luckily it only takes me 12 minutes to get there. DING DING DING ....... S$&% ...... no gas ..... hope I make it! One minute to spare as I tear a$$ into the parking lot, hair still a mess.
I have to say the class was worth it and Chris played Train THREE times so I was psyched. Moral of the story, Mondays mornings aren't always fun and they are NEVER pretty but putting a little effort in can go a long way. Enjoy your week.
Fair Winds.
BTW ...... I made it to the gas station after class and had less than a gallon left in my tank ...... I could have made it home!!
