I know it seems crazy to say but ..........runners are my favorite group of people. At each race I attend I seem to be made more and more aware of this fact. I have been stopped after a race and thanked for helping the person behind me keep pace for them to PR. I was not aware that I was doing that and I had not PR'd that race, however I left that day with a smile knowing that I helped someone push themselves a little harder and achieve a goal. I have seen runners stop during a race to help another injured runner and I have laughed on a course with total strangers about happenings around us.
Having the ability to run never really phased me, I mean I have been doing it since I was like 1!! And most people have ..... but not everyone.
This past year I had the opportunity to meet a wonderful woman through Beachbody and in turn meet her husband at an outdoor show this Spring. Only a few months following, the Evans Family made an amazing trip across the country to present the gift of mobility to those who may not have ever had the opportunity.
Their trip has been over for more than a month now but I still sit in awe of this family and their accomplishments. Read their story on the Power to Push website. I promise you will not be disappointed. This is just another example of why runners are my favorites.
Im going to leave the story and details up to them because I am sure I will mess up along the way and that will NOT do this amazing story justice.
I have learned a few things from the short time I have known this family.
First: Always teach your children to dream big and help them along in the process. You will be amazed at what they can accomplish with, and without, your help.
Second: Never believe what others may tell you is or isn't possible. If you want something bad enough and work hard enough for it it can be yours!
And last: Spending an extended amount of time in a small living space with your loved ones can bring you closer than you could ever imagine .... and this last piece of advice I will need for MY next big adventure.
Don't forget to check out the Power to Push page and keep looking for what may come next from The Evans Family.
Fair Winds!
